4 ways you can contribute to Oldham Foodbank

19th January 2022

In 2021, Oldham Foodbank distributed 6,241 seven-day emergency food parcels, feeding 8,653 adults and 5,548 children.

As you can imagine, this takes a tremendous amount of hard work and generosity on the part of individuals and businesses who contribute to the foodbank’s daily operations.

We simply could not do it without you!

We’re optimistic that we can continue to meet demand for our services – but only with the ongoing support and engagement of the local community.

Without further ado, here are four ways you can contribute to Oldham Foodbank in 2022 –

1. Volunteer with us

One of the most impactful ways you could contribute to the foodbank is with your time.

Oldham Foodbank is run entirely by volunteers – from the processing of donations to the delivery of food parcels. In 2022, we’re looking to recruit new volunteers to join our team.

Foodbank volunteering is currently broken down into AM and PM shifts, Monday to Friday. We’re looking for new volunteers for several roles, including Warehouse, Pickers and Packers, Drivers and Admin.

If you’re interested and can spare any time, please contact us to find out more. Contact details can be found at the bottom of this page.

2. Donate food

Over 90 percent of food donated to foodbank’s in the Trussel Trust network comes directly from the public. In other words, your food donations are essential.

It’s easy to donate food. Simply drop off at one of the many collection points across Oldham. It’s also possible to bring larger food donations directly to the foodbank warehouse. You can find the latest food wishlist and list of drop-off points here.

If you have any questions about how to donate food, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

3. Donate money

Oldham Foodbank relies on the generosity of individuals and business in the local community. Another way you can contribute to Oldham Foodbank is by giving a monetary donation. Every penny donated goes towards helping those in need.

You can donate using Gift Aid, as well as via Paypal and Direct Bank Transfer. See the Donations Page for full details, or contact us directly.

4. Fundraise for the foodbank

Fundraising is a fun and active way to contribute to Oldham Foodbank. You could take on an individual challenge like a sponsored run, dress up like a chicken for the day and get sponsors, or dye your hair green.

You could also arrange group activities with your office or community groups, such as quiz nights, cake and coffee mornings, charity gigs and so on.

Do something you’re good at, something you’ll enjoy, or take on an entirely new challenge for charity. See our Fundraising Booklet for loads of ideas and practical tips.
