Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks, helping get emergency food to people in crisis. At Oldham Foodbank, there are lots of ways to get involved — from collecting donations and packing parcels to admin, deliveries, social media, business links and fundraising. Whatever role you choose, you’ll make a real difference, while building skills, gaining experience, and giving back to your local community.
Current Roles Available
Volunteer Warehouse Assistant (Fridays 9am-1pm)
Food banks provide essential community services to people in crisis. You will help process food donations, sorting items, ensuring they are in date, minimising wastage and packing food ready for distribution. You can make a real difference to people’s lives providing vital help and support in your local community. This is a physical role, you will need to be on your feet for the morning, and be able to lift, push and carry some weight (assistance given with larger items). Volunteer Administrative Assistant (Wednesdays 1pm-5pm)
Food banks provide essential community services to people in crisis. As a food bank administrative assistant you will help play an important role in the smooth running of the food back. You will be responsible for ensuring emails are replied to promptly, entering voucher data and updating spreadsheets/databases. You will need to be comfortable speaking to and signposting people who have been referred to us, as well as referral agencies, over the phone. Your support will make a real difference to people’s lives as you will help to maintain the high level of help and support being offered to people in crisis in your community.
