Lent 2022: Give it up, Give it us

6th March 2022

Lent is a time for abstaining and giving up vices. Reducing or giving up bad habits is not only healthy for our minds and bodies, but can also lead to financial savings.

This year, Oldham Foodbank are running the ‘Give it up, Give it us’ campaign for Lent.

It’s easy to get involved and you can take part in any way that you want. Here’s a couple of suggestions:

DONATE 40 FOOD ITEMS

Collect one item per day for the 40 days of Lent and make a food donation to Oldham Foodbank.

You can check out the Wishlist to see the items of food that we’re running short on. At the moment, even staple foods are low in stock, so your Lent contribution will really help.

DONATE YOUR LENT SAVINGS

If you’re giving up a bad and expensive habit for Lent, then why not donate a percentage of the money that you save?

For example, if you’re reducing alcohol consumption, or cutting down on takeaways, put that saved money away. At the end of Lent, see how much you’ve saved and split the money – some as a treat for your efforts and some for a donation of food or money to Oldham Foodbank.

Good luck and thanks for your help!
